Withering plants are a worry every homeowner / property owner faces, especially when the temperature takes a sudden blow (whether hot or cold). Irrigation systems offer our clients the stability their plants require in order to survive and thrive, and without worry, throughout the changing seasons. These low maintenance systems are user friendly and cost-efficient, making them an accessible tool to all.

  • What is irrigation? How does it work?

In order for most plants to grow, they require ample sunshine, water to drink, air to breathe and space to grow. Irrigation systems control how much water a plant absorbs through a carefully planned schedule. The water is brought to plants through a series of pipes, sprinklers, canals or other means of man-made water trans-portation.

The goal of irrigation systems is to ensure that your plants, trees, and lawn are collecting and absorbing the right amount of water throughout the year without any waste. With our expert support, we will ensure that your organic features are green and lush without the added fuss. That means no more waking up at 6am to make sure your sprinklers are turned on during the summer season! With easily programmable settings, sprinkler irrigation is the hands-free, no-worry solution you’ve been looking for.

  • Why are irrigation systems important?

Water is an essential item required for the survival of any living organism. Most plants have a structural body built up of 90% water which stresses the significance of water intake these organic materials need on a regular basis. Integrated irrigation systems offer a reliable watering maintenance method which, in turn, removes the added worry of making sure your plants will receive enough water throughout the year. These systems encourage the growth of your plants and work to ensure their overall health, including how long they live and the quality of their life.

As the weather can be unpredictable, irrigation systems work to ensure that living organisms, such as plants and flowers, have a consistent watering schedule throughout the year. Irrigation systems not only warrant plant survival but they are far more reliable system than waiting for the next rainfall, especially during the summer season.

  • What are the basic irrigation methods?

There are three main types of irrigation systems: drip/micro, sprinkler, and surface. All of these irrigation methods work to preserve the development and quality of plant life.

Drip irrigation (micro irrigation) This type of system refers to the process of water slowly dripping into designated plant life through a series of pipes/tubes. This is commonly used in greenhouses and is considered one of the best eco-friendly, water-saving solutions.

Sprinkler irrigation This type of system is designed to mimic or generate symptoms of a natural rainfall. As water is sprayed into the air, small water droplets fall onto leaves and blades of grass, eventually working their way into the roots. These systems are found in residential, strata and commercial properties.

Surface irrigation This type of system combines the implementation of water transportation and gravity. Water is either flushed into a field or dispersed through channels / designated belts of land. This process is only used when there is a specified slope in the landscape in order for gravity to work its magic.
