If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind pond or waterfall created specifically for your property, then you’ve come to the right place.

At Green Zone Landscaping, no two ponds or waterfalls are ever the same. We love finding new and creative ways to showcase water features on properties. No matter the shape or size, we ensure both quality installation and professional care are executed throughout the development of all of our custom designed water features.

All of our ponds and waterfalls use eco-friendly, sustainable materials that are built to last. These materials offer our clients a peace of mind knowing that they are not only creating a greener space for themselves, but for the environment as well. Using natural rock and aquatic plants, we can help you design and construct the perfect water feature for your property, right down to the last pebble.

  • The benefits of installing water features

A garden pond or waterfall is a beautiful and environmentally friendly addition to any property. As ponds lay on the ground level of a landscape, they will often attract beneficial wildlife to your property. By attracting these animals (birds, frogs, etc.), ponds & waterfalls help rid your property of pesky insects such as caterpillars and beetles. These insects, along with several others, are notoriously known to feed on plants whilst destroying leaves, roots, and shoots in their wake. By installing a water feature, you are helping to protect the rest of your property’s softscaping / plant life.

Listed below are a few more advantages of installing water features.

Water features have been proven to provide several health benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety levels, lowering blood pressure, and improving your overall physical and mental health.

They can act as storage containers for rainwater. If your property is prone to waterlogging, certain water features can protect your property from excess water as well.

Water features are versatile, meaning they can be constructed to whatever size and shape you desire. A property is never "too small" to incorporate a water feature.

They usually require minimal annual maintenance and cleaning.

  • How do you maintain a water feature?

To ensure the functionality of your water features, it is important to schedule regular maintenance for them. How much maintenance a water feature may require will depend on the type of feature that you have installed. General maintenance tasks such as cleaning fixtures and filters or checking for algae growth should be done on a more regular basis. As a general rule, seasonal cleaning (Fall & Spring) is the best time to perform important preventative care. This helps to make sure that your water feature(s) are getting the care they needs when they needs it.

For example, during the fall, it's important to be proactive when leaves begin to fall. Making sure fallen leaves are skimmed off the surfaces of your water feature will greatly reduce possible debris build-up and prevent more severe problems from occurring.

Can I have fish in my residential pond?

Although fish may be an alluring component to a pond, we do not recommend it (sorry, fish lovers!). Not only do fish prey on smaller wildlife, but they can also affect your pond’s water nutrition levels due to the carbon dioxide they breathe out. This imbalance in water nutrition causes undue hardship in your aquatic plant life. Fish can also lure unwanted visitors onto your property such as bears, raccoons and coyotes.

Overall, fish tend to have a negative effect on the diversity in a pond. We believe it is in our client's best interests to leave fish in their natural habitats where they can live and grow happily.
